Event demand here is concentrated into a few weeks and those are the ones where availability actually runs out.
May and June. Graduation season. High school and college parties across Gurnee, Libertyville, Grayslake and Mundelein land on the same handful of Saturdays, and those dates book weeks ahead.
June through August. Weddings, backyard receptions, block parties and the village festival calendar. Saturdays are the constraint; a Friday or a Sunday event is usually available much later.
September and October. Fall festivals, fundraisers and outdoor weddings. Easier than summer but the good weekends still go early.
Off-season and weekdays. A week's notice is normally plenty.
If your date is a summer Saturday, book it as soon as you have the venue. It costs nothing to have it on the calendar and it is the only way to be sure. If we are already full for a date we will tell you straight rather than stringing you along and hoping something frees up.
Delivery, placement and what guests actually notice
Delivery the day before. Standard for us, and it is why nothing about your event depends on traffic on the morning. For a Saturday that means Friday delivery and Monday pickup, and the price covers that window rather than billing three days.
Where to put them. Far enough from the food and the seating that nobody is aware of them, close enough that guests are not walking across a dark lawn. Behind a hedge, to the side of a tent, or around the corner of a building all work. What does not work is anywhere the truck cannot reach for delivery and pickup.
Lighting. This is the thing people forget. An event that runs past sunset needs some light on the path to the units, even just a string of bulbs or a solar stake. It is the single cheapest improvement to how the whole thing feels.
Colour. Ours come in blue, pink and gray rather than only site blue, which photographs better and reads less like a job site in the background of your pictures.
Hand-wash stations. If food is being served, add one. Guests notice it, it costs a fraction of the catering line, and sanitizer inside the unit is not the same thing.
At a house. Very common. Sort two things in advance: where the truck can reach without driving over new landscaping, and whether the neighbours' sightlines matter to you. Both are easy before delivery and awkward after.
Where this work comes from in Lake County
Events here follow the Lake County calendar closely. Village festivals and summer concert series run through Waukegan, Zion, Gurnee and Libertyville from June into September, and those book as recurring dates. Graduation parties concentrate into two or three Saturdays in late May and early June across the whole county at once, which is the single tightest window we have. Backyard weddings and receptions spread through the summer, with the larger properties in Lake Forest, Libertyville and Mundelein tending toward multi-unit orders plus a wash station. Fall brings fundraisers, cross country meets and harvest events, easier to book but still concentrated on weekends. Park district and municipal work runs across the season at fixed sites. If your date falls in the May-to-August window, treat availability as the constraint rather than price, and get it on the calendar as soon as the venue is set.
Common questions
How far in advance should I book?
For a summer Saturday in Lake County, several weeks. Graduation season in May and June and the wedding and festival calendar through the summer are the times we run out, and those dates go first. A weekday or an off-season event usually books with a week's notice.
How many do I need for my guest count?
Roughly one unit per fifty guests for an event up to four hours. Beyond four hours, or where alcohol is served, plan on more — usage rises sharply once people have been there a while and are drinking. Give us the headcount, the duration and whether there is a bar, and we will size it.
When do you deliver and pick up?
Delivery the day before is standard so nothing depends on traffic on the morning of your event. Pickup is the next business day. For a Saturday event that means delivery Friday and pickup Monday, and the price covers that window rather than charging you three days.
Do you have units that do not look like a construction toilet?
Our standard units come in blue, pink and gray, which reads better at an event than the usual site blue. Placement matters more than colour — tucked behind a hedge or to the side of a tent, on ground the truck can still reach.
What about a wedding or a graduation party at a house?
Very common and it works fine. The two things to sort in advance are where the truck can reach without driving across a lawn that has just been landscaped, and whether the neighbours' sightlines matter to you. Both are easier to solve before delivery than after.
